They can often be found on new growth, leaf surfaces, or buds and can even cling to plant leaves during periods of drought. What causes cutworms to attach themselves to a plant is often through the feeding of the animal. Other options include using soil additives to get rid of these cutworm animals. Most of these products can be purchased from herb shops or gardening supply stores. Some herbs that have been found to contain a natural product that repels cutworms include thyme, basil, marjoram, and sage. There are other plants as well that may also repel cutworms, these include baby’s breath, basil, chervil, fennel, garlic, mint, and parsley. Some of the plants that repel cutworms include lettuce, spinach, mustard greens, kale, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower. Therefore, the easiest way to get rid of them is to either eradicate the plants that you have grown which contain this type of worm or to provide the plants with something that will attract these parasites. These parasites do not cause any harm to the plant, however, they are attracted to the nutrients that plants have available when they are in a growing stage.
